Thank you to all who helped hang cabinets yesterday. Your volunteer service for tile, wetland restoration and cabinetry has saved us tens of thousands of dollars on this project. Your continued, faithful, sacrificial giving to the building program will enable us to finish strong.

Sept 2007:
The steel frame for the new building is largely finished. The exterior walls on the west and north sides of the auditorium are up. You can clearly see the office and education wings of the building. These are the lower sections with the slanting roof on the east and south sides. The roof will be installed in the next two weeks. All the storm-damaged material has been removed and sent back to the manufacturer for replacement. The parking lot remains to be final graded and paved still this fall. We will need your help on two Saturdays in October to do some landscape work in the detention areas and wetlands. This will involve raking out weeds, planting new grass and several dozen trees. We need 30 people for 6 hours on two consecutive Saturdays. Keep Saturday, October 20 and 27 open for this work. Your volunteer labor will save us more than $10,000.00. We will have a professional landscaper on site those days to direct our work. Keep our project in your prayers.

Last week the steel frame for our auditorium went up. Over the next three weeks the other sections will be erected and the outside walls put in place. Once that is completed and the worksite is safe, we will hold a prayer time in the building shell following one of our morning services in September. Please continue to pray for safety and progress for the workers, and patience and unity for our church family.

This week excavation began that will protect sensitive wetland areas during construction.  Low lying areas are being drained to prepare for curbs, gutters, detention and parking lot installation.  The revised building drawings were submitted to the county for final approval.  This process will require two or three weeks.  Last Tuesday our Time To Build Campaign Team met to plan spring events.  Beginning Sunday, April 22, you will be treated to regular building updates from the pulpit, testimonies, newsletters and reminders of our purpose for building, which remains to “Glorify God by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ, baptizing those who repent and believe and teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded.”

Last week, wetland engineers staked out the boundaries of the protected areas of the property to shield these areas during construction.  We have received permission from two businesses south of our property to bring water onto the site from Geneva Road.  Next Sunday Pastor Scott will preach a message updating us on the building and reminding us of how God has led us to this point. You won’t want to miss the complete re-telling of the Crossroads story in one service.

Good News - they are moving dirt on our building site!  This is the beginning of the year-long construction phase of our project.  After the grading is completed, the foundations go in; the steel goes up; finally, the inside is completed.  I have even better news - last Sunday eight believers testified of their faith through baptism.  Several families have joined our church recently.  There is a great sense of excitement at our services.  The move to Pleasant Hill School has been outstanding.  God is blessing in response to our stepping out by faith in order to expand our ministry.  We celebrate these things because this is the heart of Crossroads Community Church.
